If you don't know or don't remember (or, possibly, don't care), I started designing a crocheted bag many moons ago. When I couldn't decide what kind of handle to put on it, I allowed myself to be distracted by many smaller projects and by designing a similar, yet different, bag altogether. The original bag is still not complete but the one I've been calling the Little Sister bag is finished, written up, photographed, renamed, PDF'd and uploaded for your crafting enjoyment. :D
It's now known as the Spring Petals Backpack and has a permanent home in the Patterns! section. I think it's happy and cheerful and ready to make your summer even sunnier!
Enjoy!

Very cute and colourful! Congratulations to this funny design.
ReplyDeleteLove the bag! It is too cute.
ReplyDeletehey, there! love the bag, but the link is to the pdf of the lid-hat...8-}
ReplyDeleteSorry guys! The text links were right, but the photo link was bad. It's fixed now! Thanks for the heads up, acv2!
ReplyDeleteThanks for all your kind comments! I'm glad you like the bag! :D
Wow! The bag is adorable! Love the colors you used - so cheerful!
ReplyDeleteHow difficult would you rate this bag? Easy, med, etc. It looks tough but I would love to make it for my 8 year old granddaughter.
ReplyDeleteAnonymous -- I've been thinking about the difficulty rating for this bag a lot. I know one beginning crocheter that downloaded the pattern, whipped it up, and thought it was a breeze. I've also talked with another, more experienced crocheter, who is having difficulty with it. The stitches themselves are not difficult at all. I think maybe you either "get" the concept of the construction, or you don't. I'm thinking of trying to take some in-progress photos to clarify the construction (but I'm finding that I suck at doing that).
ReplyDeleteBottom line: I'd say try reading through the pattern and see if it makes sense to you. Always feel free to ask me any questions you have!
Have you thought about making a video, some people work better with visual instructions. either way. thank you so much. i will be making one for my little sister. probably one for myself too :)
DeleteThank you! What a great backpack! I love all the bright colors! I will give this a go soon!
ReplyDeletehello i made you backpack. I LOVE IT BY THE WAY. i was just wondering because EVERY one keeps asking me to make them one. would you mind if i sell the finished product. I do not feel comfortable selling it to then with out your permission. :)
ReplyDeleteI am an experioenced crocheter. I think this is very easy to make, as long as you know how to crochet on the back stich or front stitch. I made it in one day and love it. The only thing that is hot clear is how to attach when you sew it on. I attached it to the Row 13 and then folded it up about an inch and sewed through both thickness of the stray. Also, I made the strap in sc, three rows as I felt it would make it stronger. Love your patterns. doloblk@aol.com (Dolores)
ReplyDeleteYour little sister bag is really great!! I've never really done much with a crochet hook...but that bag looks amazing!
ReplyDeletecan you please give measurements of this bag when it is laid flat out? i don't see measurements anywhere. thanks.
ReplyDeleteI love the bag. I made one and everyone loved it. I changed a few things I made a round rope( chain with sl st) for the straps so it would be more secure and it pulled better thru the chain holes. Also added pockets on the inside for small things so they don't get lost in the bottom.
ReplyDeleteok so this pattern is messing with my mind. can anyone help please?
ReplyDeleteI'll help if I can...

Lindo artesanato, adorei!
ReplyDeleteFrom the dragon scale bag: the line of the instructions that says work with outside facing you, is key! The light came on for me at that point...makes a huge difference in the understanding of the construction.
ReplyDeleteThank you for the gorgeous pattern!
I featured your pattern in an MNE Crafts round up so others can find your wonderful pattern. It's beautiful. :)

Hi there, this backpack is so gorgeous, thank you for posting this pattern!
ReplyDeleteI've written my first crochet pattern inspired by this one and I've added a link back to it. Hope that's OK. You can view it here: http://cheekychuckle.blogspot.co.nz/2015/09/ready-for-summer-backpack-well-summer.html
