I'm just going to town making things with this stitch -- and I'm not done yet! The latest iteration is a smaller version of the
Spring Petals Backpack with a simple drawstring closure that not only can be made as a cute little wristlet (and totally girly-ed up in the right colorway) but can be geeked out into a way cool dice bag!
The dice bag was really the inspiration for this one. Gator and I have been big fans of
A Game of Thrones (and the whole
A Song of Ice and Fire series) since they first came out. Since Gator called the
Spring Petals Backpack the "Easter Egg", and since the petals resemble dragon scales, and since dragon eggs figure prominently in A Game of Thrones, and since Gator is a big ol' gamer from way back... Well, you see how we got here. Dragon Egg dice bag it is!

Hello. I crochet'd your pattern.
I used red and green thread that was thinner as an attempt to make your dice bag smaller, but it was eventually still too big for me to comfortably take to friday night magic and hold my dice. So, I ended up making a smaller version of the same thing! I followed your pattern up to round 3, and then basically skipped to round 8, resulting in a dice bag that had half the number of stitches in the circumference, and only 6 dragon scales per row, instead of 12. I also finished off the bag with only 6 rows of dragon scales, again instead of twelve. The result was a smaller, cuter bag that is much more comfortable for me to carry around and play magic with!
Your pattern is great. The only problem that I ran into is that it was somewhat difficult to tell where I should start to crochet a row of dragon scales such that the scales do not overlap. There is one overlapping row in the large dice bag, as you may be able to see. By the time I started the small dice bag, though, I had gotten it figured out. Thanks for providing this wonderful thing to the world.

The colors are a bit washed out, unfortunately. They're both a bit darker in person, especially the red.
