Baking for the holidays

The end of the semester and the beginning of the holiday season has left me little time to blog -- sorry! I have been doing some knitting and crocheting, but as this has been all gift-related, I can't show you anything until after they have been received. But I can show you this:

Spritz cookies -- recipe straight from the Better Homes and Gardens cookbook -- just like Mama used to make!

And classic shortbread using the recipe that came with the super-cute shortbread pan.

There will probably be more shortbread on Christmas Eve. I forgot how simple it is!

Hope your Holiday prep is going well!

My mouth started watering just reading your post! Excellent work on the spritz cookies! I have such a difficult time getting mine to adhere to the pan, so I end up with giant spritz globs which I scrape off the bottom of the reservoir with a table knife...

Oooo, I have a Spritz cookie press somewhere. Never seen the light of day, but your cookies have definitely made me want to hunt it out and get some made! YarnThrower's comment has may be a tad nervous, though - any advice?

OOOh, lucky you! My kids made sugar cookie cut-outs and peanut butter blossoms, but we didn't get to the spritz cookies. Maybe, after Sarah's 3-wk interim class, we can make those. I'd still like to have them, even if Christmas is over.
